As Valentine’s Day comes, and goes, what ideally precedes and follows it is an emphasis on what love is; romantic love to be sure but, more pervasively, the emotion that marks a wholeness of devotion to a person or, in the case of Josh Parker, 2012 Maryland State Teacher of the Year and a member of the Board of Directors for the National Network of State Teachers of the Year, to a career.
In this article, Josh Parker, speaks with heart of how “Loving teaching is the mark of being a dedicated educator.” He doesn’t shy away from the difficulties of teaching, nor discount how these can stretch the limits of human capacity. What he does do is portray in an elegant manner how those very challenges might be the spark that lights the fire of love for the profession.
